My first early memories of going to Cubs games were watching #8 lean in with that closed stance and take some of the biggest hacks imaginable. I was only six years old but even I knew that this guy swung hard.
It’s great to see the voters get one right with the election of Andre “Hawk” Dawson to the Hall of Fame. Andre spent six amazing seasons with the North Siders, hitting .285 with 174 home runs and 587 RBIs. During his time in Chicago he made five All-Star teams, won two Gold Gloves and one Sliver Slugger award. Most importantly he won the NL MVP for the last place Cubbies in 1987 by achieving single season career highs in home runs (49) and RBIs (137).
So hats off to Andre, his sweet song and even sweeter commercial.

My best memory of Andre “the Hawk” Dawson was when i was ten and attending one of my first Cubs game, and after getting called out on strikes, Hawk decided to throw all the bats and helmets from the Cubs dugout onto the field and then come back out and get in the umpires face. The Hawk was unreal and the face of intensity.
